The Challenge

LumiSway is an innovative new player in the drone show industry with big goals.

Their Jasna show was flown above the snowy peaks of Slovakia, they had their narrative locked down, they just needed some art.

The Show

Show Segment: Synapse

Show Segment: Curl

Our main challenge was maintaining the client's Blender-based workflow while simultaneously providing our complex procedural art to elevate the experience.

Morph between artistic and narrative elements

The Result

A seamless hybrid production that was flown for several consecutive days. Successfully switching between illustrative storytelling and engaging artistic shapes.

This collaborative approach meant LumiSway had full control over their show and we could work in our procedural style without compromises.

The Artworks

These videos depict the work in Houdini to capture and simulate natural invisible shapes that were integrated as standalone emotional moments within the broader narrative.

Snow

Simulation Study

A large spiral wind pushes the shapes around each other and as they fall the glow turns brighter and more energetic. The piece symbolises the invisible cycles of rising and falling in nature, start and end and start again.

Synapse

Connectivity Mesh

This shape is a reference to Synapses, the constant firing of signals in our brain. While we don’t understand exactly what each individual neuron is doing, somehow we are able to think, feel and experience. This piece is a nod to constant development and intelligence, natural and artificial.

Wave

Fluid Dynamics

This piece is a visualization of the invisible waves that shape fluids in nature. Hidden in the winds, hidden in the water, these waves are constantly in motion and pushing the other elements around.
